RIME stands for Reference Immersive Monitoring Enviornment, and is Neumann's newest monitoring plugin available in VST3, AU, and AAX formats.
With it, you can mix in fully immersive enviornments straight from your NDH 20 or NDH 30 headphones.
Please note that RIME is exclusive to these headphone models, and isn't designed for other makes or models.
Workflow
- In your DAW, create a surround sound bus (eg 7.1.4)
- Insert Rime from your plugin list
- Apply the format on the left under SETUP. Select your NDH model on the right under HEADPHONE PROFILE.
HEAD TRACKING is for use with OSC compatible trackers, which allow the 3D Sound image to react to any head movements (eg turning your head.)
AMBIENCE adds more or less room ambience to the headphone sound.
The Settings page accesses a few additional settings including Room View, Tool Tips, and LFE boost, and ITD.
ITD (Interaural Time Difference) was calculated by using a KU 100 microphone. This can be adjusted to match the size your head accordingly for a more realistic sound.
Activation
- RIME can be downloaded from the Downloads | File Finder area. If you do not have a license, you can still try it for 14 days.
- Register your RIME license inside your Neumann account in the REGISTER PRODUCT area.
-
Run the installer. There are separate files for Windows and Mac OS.
Please note it is a compressed/zipped folder, on Windows you must right click and unzip the downloaded installer.
- Once installed, insert RIME into your project. It would typically be inserted onto the Master Bus, or a Surround Sound Bus as an audio effect. You can then enter in your activation code you received upon inserting it.
