What is Aneman 2.0 ?
Aneman 2.0 is a piece a software that allows connecting Merging devices, drivers and other merging powered and participant products thanks to a comprehensive matrix view, and using zones to synchronize devices, differentiate subnets, change sample rates at once, and manage network frame sizes.
It basically inherits the same principles as Aneman "1.0", while now being server oriented. This gives its users the flexibility to have either one "Master" Aneman instance, that is allowed to manage connections, whiles "Slaves" can check the status of the connections. Or run in Hybrid mode, allowing every Aneman able machine to set connections, which was not possible before.
Starting the ANEMAN Agent
Start the ANEMAN Agent application.
The ANEMAN Agent is now available in your taskbar.
The Agent will look for an existing ANEMAN server on your network, and will start one if none can be found.
Your default browser will open the ANEMAN Webapp (Google Chrome recommended)
Important: the first time you start the Agent, Windows and MacOS will prompt you to allow ANEMAN on your network.
Please allow access on your networks.
Understanding the different parts of the UI
Collapse / Un-collapse Devices View and Matrix
The Devices View can be collapsed and un-collapsed by using its icon in the top left corner.
It will allow you to see all devices that are discovered by the Aneman that is the master currently.
The Matrix View can be collapsed and un-collapsed by using its icon in the top right corner.
This view lists all selected devices on the horizontal axis, and all outputs on the vertical axis.
It is possible to change the axiles through the settings on the top right of the UI.
How to identify the PTP Master device
The PTP Master device is displayed with a clock icon
How to identify the Zone Master device
The Zone Master device is displayed with a crown icon
If the Zone Master that was previously set is missing, the crown icon will be greyed out in the Zone bar
How to identify the different networks / subnets
The different networks / subnets are now identified with a letter displayed next to the device (A,B, ...)
It is also displayed in the Info pane, next to the device IP.
Note that, while subnets are identified by letters, the colors you see reflect different zones, so there could be different subnets within the same zone or vice versa.
How to remove grey / ghost devices
Devices that are no longer present are greyed out, but remains displayed in the Devices / World view.
To remove such device, click on its Pin icon in the devices view. The device will be immediately removed from the World view, and will remain in the Device view until you refresh the browser page.
Note: a device in a Zone cannot be unpinned. Please first remove it from the zone and if you want to unpin it.
How to manage connections
Connecting devices
- Select the required devices in the Devices (or World) view. This will populate the Matrix, allowing you to connect the required IOs on the selected devices.
- When hovering a connection point, the info box lights green if the connection can be made, if it lights orange, the connection cannot be made.
- Click on the required connection points to prepare the connection (connection points will turn green).
- Then click on Connect Multicast / Connect Unicast (for unicast capable devices only) to establish the connection.
Removing a connection
Select the required devices in the Devices or World view. This will populate the Matrix, allowing you to disconnect the required IOs on the selected devices.
Click on the required connection points to prepare the disconnection (connection points will turn red).
Then click on Remove Connection.
Managing Zones
How to create and configure a Zone
In the Devices View, click on the Folder icon on top
.
You can add device(s) in the zone by dragging them on the Zone. On the left side of the device(s), a colored line will appear matching the Zone color (default: blue).
To configure the Zone, access the Zone Settings by clicking on the Zone Menu
and Open Settings.
Master allows you set a specific device as the Sampling Rate and Frame Size master.
The Master device will be displayed with a crown icon
Sampling Rate let you choose if the Zone Master is the sampling rate master, or a specific sampling rate. All devices in the zone (including the Zone Master) will follow the sampling rate.
Frame Size let you choose if the Zone Master is the frame size master, or a specific frame size. All devices in the zone (including the Zone Master) will follow the frame size.
Typically, the master of the zone will be the device most likely to change sample rate to drive other devices. It is in most cases the machine that hosts the DAW (MAD, VAD or MassCore).
However, if the sample rate is set by a non networked device that clocks one of the networked devices, the latter will need to be set as the master of the zone, so the sample rate of the non networked device is followed.
Note: Depending on the devices configuration, very low frame sizes like AES67(6) or (12) may cause drops in the connection.
How to delete a Zone
Access the Zone Settings by clicking on the Zone Menu
and select Delete Zone.
How to remove all connections
Access the Devices settings by clicking on the Device Menu
and select Clear All Connections.
How to remove connections on a specific zone
Access the Zone Settings by clicking on the Zone Menu
and select Clear Connections.
How to install a plugin ?
To use some third party devices, additional plugins are required.
Such plugins are already included in the ANEMAN installer, but are not activated by default.Right click on the ANEMAN Agent icon in the taskbar to access its Settings.
The Plugins filter section let you activate - deactivate plugins.Note: Deactivating the Bonjour, Merging, MassCore or ZMAN plugins is not recommended.
