Since Pyramix V15 and Ovation V11, software activation is done through the new "Merging License Manager" application, using the licensing system of the Sennheiser group.
Pyramix 16 and Ovation 12 releases will be the time to change how customers upgrade their Pyramix and Ovation to the latest versions, and access support.
NEW: USR & D-USR
From the release of Pyramix 16 and Ovation 12, our legacy ASM (Annual Software Maintenance) model as well as any upgrade products will be replaced by:
USR (Upgrade and Support Renewal)
For customers one major version behind.
D-USR (Double Upgrade and Support Renewal)
For customers two major versions behind.
Both products give customers access to the latest release of their Pyramix or Ovation pack and reinstate their support eligibility until the next major version is released.
Pyramix or Ovation versions older than two major versions behind, will not be eligible to purchase USR or D-USR.*
EXISTING ASM CUSTOMERS
On the release of Pyramix 16 and Ovation 12, customers with a valid ASM will receive a free USR for their software pack as well as MassCore (if applicable).
MassCore customers with a valid ASM are taken care the same as Native users. They will also receive a MassCore USR in addition to the USR relevant for their Pyramix software.
MassCore Customers without a valid ASM wishing to upgrade, will need to purchase a MassCore USR (or D-USR), as well as the USR (or D-USR) relevant for their Pyramix or Ovation pack.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT
From the release of Pyramix 16 and Ovation 12, technical support will be open to anyone running the most current version at the time.
We will continue to support customers running one version down from current, but those will need to purchase an USR to renew their access to technical support.
Operating systems are evolving fast and therefore we are no longer able to support versions older than one version down from the current version.
NEW CUSTOMERS
When purchasing a new license of Pyramix 16 or Ovation 12, customers will no longer receive an ASM as had been the case with Pyramix 15 and Ovation 11. They will:
Get access to technical support as long as they stay current.
Will be entitled to a free USR if a new major version is released within 60 days of their purchase.
USING AN USR/ D-USR
When purchasing an USR or D-USR, customers will automatically receive their new keys by email along with further instructions.
USB DONGLES RETIREMENT
The group’s licensing technology unfortunately will not allow us to offer licenses running on USB dongles from the release of Pyramix 16 and Ovation 12.
Pyramix 16 and Ovation 12 licenses will however only need to be connected to the internet for enabling and disabling licenses, meaning that, during the span of use, a machine could indefinitely sit disconnected from the external world without risking deactivation.
Owners of a dongle based Pyramix or Ovation license and under a valid ASM will receive a free USR allowing them to upgrade to Pyramix 16 with a dongle less license.

* Special Offer Grace Period for older Pyramix Licenses :
With our new USR/ D-USR scheme, owners of Pyramix and Ovation versions older than two major versions behind, are not eligible to purchase USR or D-USR. They normally need to purchase a new license.
However, with the release of Pyramix 16 and Ovation 12, we are offering a 6-month grace period allowing those customers to upgrade with a D-USR.
That means owners of:
Pyramix 25th Anniversary or older, can upgrade to Pyramix 16 with a D-USR until the 30th of September 2026.
Ovation 9 or older, can upgrade to Ovation 12 with a D-USR until the 30th of October 2026.
This is a unique opportunity for many customers to upgrade their decades old licenses! (Please note that new hardware such as computers, as well as OS updates will likely be needed too.)
