MT Portal

The MT Portal is a free tool offering a convenient and easy way to keep your Merging/Neumann interfaces and tools up-to-date. 
MT Portal will alert you about the latest available versions and provide a one click download and update function.
MT Portal can also be accessed through MT Discovery, ANEMAN, Merging Audio Device Panel (Windows), Virtual Audio Device Panel (Mac) and the Neumann MT 48 Agent.

 

 

NEVER TURN OFF THE COMPUTER OR THE DEVICE WHILE PERFORMING A FIRMWARE UPDATE.

 

Prerequisites & Installation

  • The MT Portal application is available as a separate installer, compatible with Windows 10 & 11 (both 64bit) or MacOS 13 (Ventura) or MacOS 14 (Sonoma) or MacOS 15 (Sequoia)
    Please download from Neumann Downloads and install it.

  • The MT Portal will work along one of the applications below

    • MAD (2.4 and above)

    • VAD (3.4 and above)

    • MT 48 Agent

    • ANEMAN (2.0 and above)

    • MT Discovery (20.0 and above)

    • Pyramix (15.0 Hotfix1 and above)

    • Ovation (11.0 and above)

  • An active internet connection on the computer is required.

Important Note: Users running MT Portal 1.4.0 (or below) must update to 1.5.0 before updating to 1.5.1 (and above).

Procedure

You can either:

  • Start the MT Portal application.  This method will show you updates for all detected devices and programs.

  • MT Discovery application. This method will show you updates for the selected device or program.
    Your devices will be automatically detected, an orange dot shows that an update is available for your Merging/ Neumann device(s).

  • MAD (Windows) or VAD (Mac) panel can also be used to access MT Portal.
    This method will show you updates for the selected device or program
    Right click on the device(s) to launch “Show Available Updates”.
    Note: MAD and VAD panel will only display devices running in RAVENNA/AES67 mode.

  • ANEMAN (Windows and Mac)
    Right click on the device(s) to launch “Show Available Update”.
    Note: ANEMAN will only display devices running in RAVENNA/AES67 mode.

  • MT 48 Agent (Windows and Mac - USB connection)
    Open the MT 48 Agent and select “Show Available Updates”.

Using MT Portal

The MT Portal window shows the update status of your devices.
Make sure your Merging / Neumann device(s) are connected to your computer gigabit network interface.

Download & Update
The MT Portal will download the firmware/application and start the update.
When the update is finished, the application will automatically reboot the device.
Note: Related firmware components like Anubis Remote Control can also be downloaded and installed.

Download only
The MT Portal will download the firmware/application in your Downloads/MT folder (Windows) Application Support/MTPortal (Mac).
You may decide when you want to update your device, whether it is manually through the Maintenance pages (see the device User Manual for details), or by using the MT Portal.
Download 
The MT Portal will download the firmware in your Downloads/MT folder (Windows) Application Support/MTPortal (Mac).
The update has to be performed manually, some applications (Pyramix, Ovation, MAD-ASIO) cannot be automatically updated, you still need to uninstall and install manually.

Update
The MT Portal has detected that the latest firmware available has already been downloaded in your Downloads/MT folder (Windows) Application Support/MT Portal (Mac).
Update will start the firmware update.
When the update is finished, the MT Portal will automatically reboot the device.

Your_Device_Name is up to date
Your device is already running the latest firmware available (in the selected mode if applicable)

RAVENNA/AES67 - Dante tabs
For Merging / Neumann interfaces that are Dante compatible, a RAVENNA AES67 and a Dante tab are available, allowing to update the device in the required mode.
A "Running" icon shows in which mode the device is currently running.

Note for Legacy Horus and Hapi 1st gen:
As the firmware update requires to reboot the device in Maintenance mode, the firmware update has to be performed manually (see the device User Manual for details).

 

Additional Tools

The MT Portal can update itself, a restart of the application will be required after the update process.
Anubis Remote Controllers, ANEMAN* and MT Discovery tools can also be updated with MT Portal.
*ANEMAN update via the MTPortal 1.3.1 is supported on both Windows and MacOS.
For previous MTPortal versions, ANEMAN has to be downloaded and updated separately on MacOS.

File Menu

Refresh
Refresh the Update status of the listed devices.

Resync with Server
Query the update server for new versions

Open Downloads directory
Opens the MT Portal download folder.
On Mac, you will be requested to allow the application to use Finder.

 

Troubleshooting

  • Failed to contact Merging Technologies Server

    A connection cannot be established to the Update server.
    Please verify your internet connection or retry later.
    Note: if a firmware is present in your Downloads/MT folder (Windows), you may update the device without an active internet connection

  • Software/Firmware update has been disabled by your administrator

    The updater has been disabled, please contact your system administrator.

  • No compatible software/hardware has been detected

    Please make sure that your Merging Technologies hardware is connected to the computer.
    Please also verify it is detected in MT Discovery, ANEMAN, MAD Panel or VAD Panel.

  • Download Failed: HTTP response code said error

    Please verify your internet connection or retry later.

MacOS users - Important Note

  • When updating MT Discovery or ANEMAN, you may get a -1 error message in MT Portal. 
    In such case, please uninstall the application manually, by dragging it on the bin and emptying it.
    You can then install the latest MT Discovery and/or ANEMAN version.

  • When updating ANEMAN, you may get an error message about skipped items.

    You can then install the latest ANEMAN version.

  • VAD cannot be updated with MT Portal for now.

 

Disable MT Portal

If for any reason you want to disable the MT Portal (including MT Discovery - MAD - VAD notifications)

Windows : 
Please download the following file and unzip it in any convenient place.
MTPortalDisable-Windows.zip
Double click on the MTPortalDisable.reg file and restart the computer.
You may re-enable MT Portal by double clicking on the MTPortalEnable.reg file and restarting the computer.

MacOs : 
Please download the following file and unzip it in any convenient place.
MTPortalDisable-Mac.zip
In Terminal, type cd ~/Library and press enter.  Then type open ./ and browse to Application Support/MTPortal, copy the extracted MTPortal_Disable-Settings.ini file in this folder and restart the computer.
You may re-enable MT Portal by deleting the Settings.ini file in this folder and restarting the computer.
